The UAE jobseeker visa lets skilled workers and recent graduates come to the country to look for work without a sponsor. You do not need a job offer, an employer, or a host before you apply. You choose a stay of 60, 90, or 120 days to attend interviews, meet employers, and explore the job market.

Officially, this visa is called a visit visa to explore job opportunities. It is a single-entry visa for one trip, not a work permit, and it does not let you start paid work while you hold it. This guide explains who can apply, what it costs, which documents you need, and how to apply.

Quick Answer

The UAE jobseeker visa is a single-entry visit visa that lets you search for a job in the UAE for 60, 90, or 120 days without a sponsor. To qualify, you must be in MOHRE skill level 1, 2, or 3, or a graduate of a top 500 university who finished within the last two years. You also need a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, and you must meet the financial guarantee rule. Dubai’s GDRFA lists the fee at AED 200 for 60 days, AED 300 for 90 days, and AED 400 for 120 days, plus 5% VAT, with a refundable guarantee of AED 1,060. Apply through GDRFA Dubai or the ICP.

What Is the UAE Jobseeker Visa?

The jobseeker visa is a visit visa for people who want to find work in the UAE. It was introduced in 2022 as part of the UAE’s wider visa reforms, to attract skilled talent and young graduates who want to explore job options before they commit to a move.

Unlike most UAE visas, this one does not need a local sponsor. No company has to invite you, and no resident has to host you. You apply in your own name. The visa is for one trip only — a single-entry visa — so once you enter the UAE on it, you cannot leave and re-enter on the same visa. The official UAE government portal, u.ae, confirms this: a visit visa to search for a job without a host or sponsor, for one trip, with a validity of 60, 90, or 120 days.

Be clear about what this visa is not. It is not a work visa, and it does not give you the right to take up a job, even on a trial basis, while you hold it. If you receive a job offer during your stay, your employer must apply for a work permit and a residence visa before you can start work.

Who Can Apply for the UAE Jobseeker Visa?

The official portal sets out three conditions, and you must meet all of them. The first condition has two routes, and you need to meet only one of them.

Route 1: Skilled professionals

Your target job must fall in the first, second, or third skill level under the MOHRE professional classification of jobs. MOHRE sorts jobs into nine levels, based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations.

Level 1 covers legislators, managers, and executives. Level 2 covers professionals, such as engineers, doctors, teachers, and accountants. Level 3 covers technicians and associate professionals. Jobs in the lower skill levels do not qualify through this route — a welder, bricklayer, or carpenter is normally classed at level 7. If you are unsure which level your job falls in, check with MOHRE or a typing centre before you pay any fee.

Route 2: Recent graduates of top universities

If you do not meet the skill-level route, you may still qualify as a recent graduate. You must have graduated from one of the best 500 universities in the world, according to the classification approved by the UAE Ministry of Education, and within the last two years before you apply. The two-year limit is strict, so check that your university is on the Ministry of Education’s list before you apply.

The other two conditions

Whichever route you use, you must also hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. This is a firm requirement. A diploma below degree level does not meet it.

You must also meet the prescribed financial guarantee. The u.ae page does not state an amount; the Dubai GDRFA service lists AED 1,060 in total, including a refundable AED 1,000 security amount.

How Long Can You Stay?

You choose one of three durations when you apply. The table below shows the options.

Visa durationEntry typeBest for
60 daysSingle entryA short search with interviews lined up
90 daysSingle entryA fuller search with several employers
120 daysSingle entryA longer search with networking time

All three options are single-entry visas. If you leave the UAE before the visa ends, you cannot return on the same visa, so plan your travel dates with care. If your search takes longer than planned, an extension may be possible: the ICP states that the entry permit for exploring job opportunities can be extended, as long as the total stay does not exceed 180 days. Extensions are subject to approval, and extra fees apply, so ask on the official channel you applied through before your visa expires.

UAE Jobseeker Visa Fees

The u.ae portal page does not publish fee amounts for this visa. The fees below come from the Dubai GDRFA published fee schedule, as reported on 8 November 2026. Fees can differ by emirate, so confirm the total on the channel you use before you pay.

Visa durationBasic visa feeVAT (5%)
60 daysAED 200AED 10
90 daysAED 300AED 15
120 daysAED 400AED 20

On top of the visa fee, there is a refundable financial guarantee. The Dubai schedule lists a security amount of AED 1,000, a guarantee service fee of AED 20, and AED 40 for guarantee collection and refund — AED 1,060 in total. The AED 1,000 security amount is refundable after the visa is cancelled or the holder leaves the country, if there were no residency violations. Amer service centres and typing centres may charge a service fee of their own, so always check the final amount shown on the official payment page before you confirm.

Documents You Need

The u.ae portal lists three required documents. Keep them ready before you start the application, because the online form asks you to upload them.

  • A coloured photo. A recent passport-sized colour photograph, normally with a white background.
  • A copy of your passport. The Dubai service asks for a passport valid for at least six months.
  • An attested qualification certificate. Your degree certificate, attested as required. Depending on your case, you may also need extra evidence to confirm your skill level or your university’s ranking.

Your degree certificate needs attestation: it must be verified by the issuing authority in your home country and then by the UAE embassy or the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

How to Apply for the UAE Jobseeker Visa

You apply online through one of two official channels. For a visa issued from Dubai, use GDRFA Dubai. For any other emirate, use the ICP. The steps are the same on both channels.

Step 1: Choose the right channel. Go to the GDRFA Dubai online service for a Dubai-issued visa, or to the ICP smart services portal or the UAEICP app for other emirates. Authorised Amer service centres in Dubai also help with applications. Use only these official channels, and ignore anyone who claims to issue visas or guarantee jobs through unofficial routes.

Step 2: Select the job exploration visa service. Choose the service for issuing a visit visa to explore job opportunities. On the ICP portal, it is listed by duration: a 60-day, 90-day, or 120-day single-entry search-for-job visa. Pick the duration that fits your plans.

Step 3: Fill in your details and upload documents. Complete the form with your personal, passport, and qualification details. Upload your coloured photo, your passport copy, and your attested degree certificate. Check every field before you move on.

Step 4: Pay the fees. Pay the visa fee and the financial guarantee online. The total depends on the duration you chose. Keep the payment receipt and the application reference number safe, so you can track the application.

Step 5: Wait for the decision. Dubai’s residency authority states a processing time of about 48 hours after the required documents and steps are complete. That is a stated processing time, not a guarantee of approval. Every application is checked on its own facts.

What You Can and Cannot Do on This Visa

The jobseeker visa lets you search for work: attend interviews, meet hiring teams, visit job fairs, and build local contacts. You can also use the time to learn about salary levels and the cost of living where you hope to work.

It does not let you work. You cannot take up paid employment, even for a trial shift, while you hold this visa. Working on a visit or tourist visa is prohibited, and both employees and employers face fines if they break this rule. If you get a job offer, your employer applies for a work permit with MOHRE, and then arranges your residence visa. Only after that permit is issued can you legally start work.

Be careful about job scams. Paying an agent for a job is illegal under UAE labour law. A genuine employer pays for your visa and work permit. If someone asks you to pay for a job offer, treat it as a warning sign, and verify every offer on the MOHRE website or app before you resign or pay anything.

Finally, watch your dates. You must leave the UAE, extend the visa, or change your status before your visa expires. Staying beyond the permitted period is an overstay, and it leads to fines under UAE immigration rules. Do not rely on a grace period: the rules have changed over time and differ by visa type. Act before the last day, and if you receive a job offer near the end of your visa, tell your employer at once.
